Ruth B. Bottigheimer has published on many aspects of books for children, including fairy tales, children’s Bibles, the relationship between gender and book content in early children’s books, and defining children’s literature itself. Educated at Wellesley College, the University of Munich, University College at the University of London, the University of California at Berkeley, and Stony Brook University, she has since taught at Princeton University and Stony Brook University and has held visiting professorships and fellowships in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
