Inge Bruggeman

Inge Bruggeman is Executive Director of the CODEX Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization that exists to preserve and promote the contemporary handmade book as a work of art. As E.D. Inge has an avid interest in being a resource for librarians and curators in institutions. Bruggeman is also a Lecturer in the Bancroft Library at University of California Berkeley for the Undergraduate and Interdisciplinary Studies course titled, The Hand Printed Book in its Historical Context. Before recently moving to the Bay Area, she was Associate Professor in the Art Department at the University of Nevada Reno, she also taught for many years at the Oregon College of Art & Craft, and for a brief period in the graduate program at the Columbia College Chicago Center for Book & Paper Arts. Bruggeman is also a maker of artist’s books, fine press publications, prints, and other text-based art. Her work has been widely collected and exhibited internationally and she has enjoyed traveling broadly to give lectures and workshops about her work. As an enthusiastic supporter of the field of book arts she has been involved in curating, writing, publishing, and board service to promote the book and publication arts, most recently she is serving as Board Chair of the Fine Press Book Association which publishes the journal Parenthesis.   www.ingebruggeman.com   www.codexfoundation.org
