Vanessa Wilkie is the William A. Moffett Curator of Medieval Manuscripts and British History.  She holds a Ph.D. in Early Modern British History from UC Riverside.  Before coming to The Huntington in September, 2013, Vanessa was a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at the University of Redlands where she taught European History and Gender Studies.  Her research focuses on elite mother-daughter relationships and the literary and legal agency of mothers in 16th and 17th century England.  Vanessa has published on the relationship between print and manuscript sources in Early Modern England.

Vanessa has curated two exhibitions for The Huntington: Magna Carta: Law and Legend 1215-2015 and The Reformation: From the Word to the World.  Vanessa also serves on the advisory committee for /five, The Huntington’s current 5-year program which brings contemporary artists into our collections.
